About the Author
Gerald Corey is Professor Emeritus of Human Services and Counseling at California State University at Fullerton. He received his doctorate in counseling from the University of Southern California. He is a Diplomate in Counseling Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology; a licensed psychologist; and a National Certified Counselor. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 17, Counseling Psychology; and Division 49, Group Psychotherapy); a Fellow of the American Counseling Association; and a Fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. Both Jerry and Marianne Corey received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Mental Health Counselors Association in 2011, and both also received the Eminent Career Award from ASGW in 2001. Dr. Corey was given the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award from California State University at Fullerton in 1991. He regularly teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in group counseling and ethics in counseling. He is the author or coauthor of 15 textbooks in counseling currently in print, along with more than 60 journal articles and book chapters. In the past 40 years Jerry and Marianne Corey have conducted group counseling training workshops for mental health professionals at many universities in the United States as well as in Canada, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, England, and Ireland.

Marianne Schneider Corey, a licensed marriage and family therapist in California, is a National Certified Counselor and a fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. She has been actively involved in providing training and supervision workshops in group process for human-services students and professionals. She also facilitates self-exploration groups for graduate students and continues to conduct training workshops in group counseling with her husband, Dr. Gerald Corey, in various countries. In 2001, the two received the Eminent Career Award for distinguished and major contributions to the field of group work by the Association for Specialists in Group Work.

Cindy Corey is a California-licensed psychologist in private practice in San Diego and on the faculty at San Diego State University Community-Based Block Program. She received her doctorate in psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles.

Patrick Callanan is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Santa Ana, California, and a National Certified Counselor. In his private practice he works with individuals, couples, and families. Patrick is on the part-time faculty of the Human Services Program at California State University at Fullerton, where he regularly teaches the internship course. He also offers his time each year to the university to assist in training and supervising group leaders, and co-teaches an undergraduate course in ethical and professional issues.

Masters' Rehab Counseling Program Book

Very good book that allows easy reading. Dr. Corey makes in clear in all his books that the reader should develop their own way of handling consumers. Professionals and students should find this book outstanding scholastic material moving into the realm of counseling. There is not substitute for proper ethics.

INSTRUCTOR'S EDITION

This book came with a great deal of tape and "quality resold books" stickers on the front and spine. The book did not look like the picture posted. I peeled off the stickers and found it to be the instructor's edition. However, there does not seem to be much of a difference between the instructor's edition, and student edition. And it was a good price, and came in good timing. Just a warning that it is a bit of false advertising.

The final two chapters discuss how text analysis techniques are evaluated and how results are integrated into structured data analysis.

The clear explanations and accessible examples make this book a reasonable first read for anyone curious about text analysis. Although readers need not be biologists, some familiarity with scientific inquiry is helpful. I found the chapter on evaluation of text analysis methods most useful. If you want to study the New Testament, all you need is this book and a Bible and you are set to go. Jensen's methods are sound and often taught by other teachers because the technique works. If you are ready to commit to some real spiritual growth, this book is one of the better ways to begin.

A book for the beginner and a review for the experienced

This is the first book I purchased for flow cytometry after checking out 3 unsatisfactory books on the same subject from the library. I am a clinician by training and so I needed a book that explains the basic background of the method, PLUS detailed procedures to follow, and explanation on how to alter those procedures to suit one's experiment. This book is written and presented in a way that makes it easy to understand even if one has no prior trianing in flow-cytometry. It does not have so much technical jargon that a newbie would not be able to understand. Everything is clear and well-explained. I have "debugged" some of my current procedures using this book. Chapter 3 (Immunofluroescence: Basic Considerations) is a must-read: the validity of one's results seem to largely depend on factors discussed in this chapter. Included also is a list of internet resouce for cytometry, although some of websites have been outdated. Overall a very nice reference, but as in all lab procedures-related books, one book never covers everything you need to know, so I use this book by Radbruch in conjuction with others.

Missing the CD

Was disappointed to find it did not have the CD that is supposed to come with it and then to see that it had a clearance sticker on for 1/4 the price I paid. The empty CD envelope is still in the back of the book. The book itself is in good condition and the drills and practice pieces seem to be a good variety and levels of challenge. Just disappointed because my decision to purchase this was based on the combo of both a book and CD.

I like the product but would prefer a DVD as in level 1, instead of CD. Also, the CD did not include all of the music in the book, as did level 1, & I am unable to find the optionsl CD's that have the music.

Patrick Deville is a novelist and French cultural attache. He travels widely and has lived in the Middle East, Africa, south-east Asia and Latin America. The Amazing Life of Alexandre Yersin

This is less a novel than a rather imaginative biography. Its subject is Alexandre Yersin [1863-1943].
Yersin was among the first of a legion of scientists who were to work at the famous Pasteur Institute in Paris. He made numerous contributions to microbiology, principally discovering the plague bacillus, Yersinia pestis. The author also shows him to have been a pioneer in other fields – astronomy, aviation, photography, horticulture to name but a few. He established medical education in Indochina. Today he is venerated in Vietnam, a land he made his home and where he is buried. A remarkable man, a polymath, deserving of a study. How good is this one?
Often the lives of “famous doctors” are recounted by their fellow-professionals. We see the subject mainly at work in the laboratory or on the ward. A few anecdotes are thrown in about the “great man”. The style is worthy but dull.
This is more of a literary essay, quite short, given the achievements of Yersin. Deville places him in the coterie of the Pasteur set. We meet Roux, Calmette, Simond and others as well as the founder himself. We also learn of contemporaries from the arts scene – Joseph Conrad, Céline [who did a PhD at the Pasteur] and especially Rimbaud. Apollinaire and Baudelaire are discussed, too. “Filthy politics” - as Yersin would have it - impacts on the tale. Koch and Pasteur carry on the wars of France and Germany under the microscope. Yersin’s bacteriological discoveries are in here, but as but one aspect of a fantastically filled life.
I don’t think Plague and Cholera is really a novel – there are no fictional characters and no plot. As a biography, it is unusual – it reads like the author is flicking through a photograph album, stopping every now and then to point out something you may not have noticed, skipping the recordings of awards and the prizes for a sepia-tinged shot of a Cambodian plateau.
I had only heard of Y Pestis before I read this. Its discoverer was a truly exceptional individual. I would like to know more about him and his world.

Spoiler Alert!

I wasn't comfortable with Janice and Kaitlyn getting Zach drunk in order to take advantage of him sexually. Although Zach goes along with it in anger, I just found the whole episode disgusting. I found the sex in general to be cold and passionless. Although I do enjoy romantic erotica, I didn't enjoy this story at all.
I did give the author a star for having the characters using a condom. As a health care provider I can tell you that chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis is on the rise. Then there is HIV. A woman can have these disease and not have any symptoms causing sterility and worse. If you have ever handed a blind and retarded (caused by gonorrhea and the lack of any prenatal care) newborn baby to a 13 year old mother in neonatal intensive care as I have, you take it seriously. No one can know the age or education of the people reading these stories and how they can be influenced. I think the author showed a lot of social responsibility in having her characters practice safe sex.

I have become obsessed with this author after having read my first book this morning called Kept, I then requested Taken and have since bought Controlled and have read them all!!! When I saw more books by Jamie, it was a no brainer to get them read as well! This book was a sexy surprise, I loved the suspense of it and the secret nights. There was something very hot about it and I only wish it were longer with some more of those sexy stolen nights!!

Color photos very helpful

All of the new material and especially the color photos make this book a must-have for a fire investigator. So much detail is missed with black and white photos, comparing this edition with earlier versions is like night and day.

Good info.

As I write a review for yet another NFPA guide, they will all be the same. As I stated a NFPA guide is not a book, it's a guide. NFPA guides are written to look up information, unlike a book in which you read by chapter. Now that said, you can read it like a book, it just takes awhile to read. If you are going to sit for any length of time to read it, have strong coffee!
