Only later was the cause of the engine stoppage revealed, and the incident thereby made aviation history. Betty Tootell, one of the passengers, has written a remarkable and suspenseful account of what happened and how people reacted; a story which movingly demonstrates the heroism of ordinary people. The reader is left feeling that those on board were awarded precious things: an understanding of the true meaning of humanity, and of the gift of life.

Hero - Moody

Surely one of the great unsung books of aviation. Eric Moody is a hero and his actions are explained in great detail here.
Simple enough for the layman to understand, and engaging for the professional alike - you really get the feeling of what it's like to be on that warm dark flightdeck miles above the earth when the unthinkable happens.
That he was 'just doing his job' is testament alone to this humble man.

A fantastic account by one of the passengers onboard BA009. We get the technical aspects of the incidence thanks to a great deal of research and interviews with the flight crew but also the personal stories of the passengers and the cabin crew.
A must read for anyone interested in aviation or a simply a fantastic and true story
